Why blog?

For those that know me, know that I can be ridiculously forgetful, so what better way to preserve a memory eh? Its an interactive blog, so I look forward to hearing feedback from friends and family while I'm one the road.

This is the first time I've ever written a blog, so bear with me. My spelling and grammar are also atrocious but if you can look past that, I'm sure ill keep you amused somehow.

So mummy, daddy and my forever stressing sister, this is for you and I promise to update this at least once a week (along with obligatory skyping, texting, phone calls, emails, smoke signals and postcards as you have all demanded) and I promise not to do anything to make you worry.

So off I go, like a poor mans Carrie Bradshaw with accents of Dyslexia... Wish me luck guys.

The things I'm going to miss most...

  • My amazing, crazy, multicultural, funny, sometime embarrassing and terribly attractive family
  • Lamb Nashilee from The Mumtaj - best curry this side of Whitechapel (I will be trying to source a good ruby in Vegas, so if you can recommend one, speak up)
  • My dysfunctional and quirky friends who are as dear to me as family and love me and "Amy", warts and all..
  • A good old Bristish pub! No matter where I go in the world, never find one like back home!
  • My foster pooches Leyland & Layla xxx Beautiful creatures xxx
  • The van
  • Prawn Eyes - my constant guardian angel..
  • London.. My favourite city in the world. I'll miss your foggy glow but you know I'll be back for you
  • And finaly, Mark.. This ones for you xx

"Oh and not forgetting.... The Wife - looking forward to our unconventional Christmas on the beach. Counting down until I see your wee moon head again" x

Happiest day of our lives...

Goodbye Blighty my old friend

Well, the time is finally here and the plans that I've had in the pipeline for a few years now are finally taking flight (literally)...

It's with a real real heavy heart I say goodbye to the people I love the most but as one door closes a new one opens and with the super-information-highway at our fingertips 24/7 we will always be connected

I am starting off my travels in California to visit some friends and do a little sightseeing, then off to Nevada for a few months where I will start my work exchange at the Hostel Cat which i am uber excited about!! My plan is to then head down to Central America somewhere; Panama being my top preference, where I plan on enrolling into a local language school for about a month to improve my Spanish skills. Hopefully this will allow me to meet some like minded travellers, new friends and raise the profile of my linguistic repitour (which currently sucks!) Who knows eh?

But we all know that in a heat of the moment i am the type to rip up my plans, drop everything and go on a completely different route. Soooo.... What I said above will probably end up a load of bollocks and I will probably end up shacked up with some Peruvian Alpaca farmer, beavering away on a loom making colourful technicolor sweaters, while he milks the beasts.. Who knows?

Not sure when I will be back but it will be sometime 2014, I think......(sorry mum) x
